Champion x Virgil Abloh: Lost Pieces from the No Permission Exhibition

Role: Producer
In 2024, Champion honored its legendary collaboration with Virgil Abloh by launching a multi-city brand activation titled Lost Pieces from the No Permission Exhibition. The centerpiece of the activation: a coveted $5,000 collector’s museum box—a retrospective archive of the Champion x Virgil collaboration—hidden in plain sight in four major cities: New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Chicago.
I had the privilege of producing the Chicago leg of this activation, working closely with Game Seven who brought me on to bring the experience to life on the ground. Our scavenger hunt-style giveaway created real-time cultural buzz, bridging social media and street-level engagement in the city where Virgil’s creative legacy runs deep.
How It WorkedChampion seeded clues via social media in partnership with select influencers, including @heycolanda, teasing followers to chase down the mystery box. Each clue led participants closer to a hidden grail: the limited-edition No Permission archive box.
In Chicago, the box was hidden at Lake Shore Park—poetically situated next to the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, which hosted Virgil’s landmark 2019 Figures of Speech retrospective. The proximity was intentional, grounding the hunt in a space that once spotlighted Abloh’s creative genius.
As the Chicago producer, I was responsible for:Coordinating with Champion’s creative and logistics teams
Scouting and securing the location for the hidden drop
Capturing real-time social assets throughout the activation
Briefing local influencers
Ensuring brand storytelling remained consistent and elevated across platforms
The result? A high-energy, citywide experience that honored Abloh’s disruptive spirit while mobilizing a new generation of fans to engage with the brand—online and IRL.
