PGA Quail Hollow Tournament Social Sizzle
Role: Motion designer
Ahead of the 2025 PGA Quail Hollow Tournament, I was brought in by Athletic Content House to deliver a set of key 3D shots that would help drive excitement in the lead-up to the event. The goal was to create a visual sizzle that felt premium, hype-worthy, and true to the legacy of the tournament.

The Original Assignment
My task was to create three hero moments:
A sweeping hero shot of a PGA flag waving at the hole
A dramatic recreation of a now-iconic shot from the 2017 Quail Hollow tournament, where Dustin Johnson’s ball rolls up, pauses at the edge of the cup, then drops in
A camera-driven reveal through the hole that transitions to the tournament trophy, suspended midair above the course with Charlotte’s skyline in the background
I was handed a storyboard to execute these moments, each designed to tap into emotion, history, and the anticipation surrounding the tournament.

A New Idea Emerges
As I worked through grass simulations and environmental details, I started experimenting with a new visual—one that was a bit more playful. I mocked up a tiny globe of grass being trimmed in a perfect circle by a miniature lawnmower. The concept? A tongue-in-cheek way to mark the countdown to tournament day.
I pitched the idea, and the client loved it.
We evolved the concept further: as the lawnmower moves in circles, it reveals text carved into the grass—details like the date, the round, and the brand name—against a bright blue sky backdrop. It became a short but energetic social-first animation, designed specifically for channels like Instagram.

My Role
Delivered 3D animation for three primary shots in the main tournament sizzle
Recreated a legendary PGA moment from 2017 using cinematic timing and animation
Concepted, pitched, and produced an original piece of social content built around a whimsical lawnmower + grass globe idea
Solved a creative challenge: how to build more buzz with lightweight, repeatable, platform-native content

The Result
Two complementary approaches:
One, a cinematic, legacy-driven sizzle that honored the course and the tournament's prestige.
The other, a modern, fun, shareable animation built to drive day-of engagement.
This was a rare opportunity to contribute both technically and conceptually—delivering what was asked, while also identifying space to add something unexpected, memorable, and fun.
